This advanced training picks up right where Working
Together One left
off. It boldly addresses some of the deeper and thornier issues of
Deaf culture, such as growing up Deaf and how that experience
could influence relationships in the workplace.
- The training builds on the introduction of the manual alphabet
and beginning signs learned in Working Together One. Participants
expand their sign vocabulary and knowledge of ASL sentence construction.
- It provides participants with an overview of the obstacles
employers face when trying to be Deaf-friendly as well as the attitudinal
and other barriers Deaf employees confront in today's workplace and
offers some effective solutions.
- Finally, the workshop provides an overview of what Deaf
employees themselves must do to succeed and advance in today's workplace.
This includes:
- Sticky Issues Discussion Groups
- Promotion of Deaf Employees
- Interpreter Costs
- English Skills of Deaf Employees
- New Technological Advances/Assistive Devices that are Leveling the Playing Field - From the traditional TTY to the emergence of newer technologies, such as two-way messaging pagers, remote video interpreting, CHAT software, and video conferencing, Deaf employees nowadays can do just about everything their hearing co-workers can, except hear.
We also offer our trainings and services on-site and customize them
