The Parent-Infant Program (PIP)   Deaf Youth Leadership Program
HSDC’s Parent-Infant Program (PIP) serves families with infants and toddlers who are Deaf or hard of hearing and live in King and Snohomish Counties. The goal of the program is to provide parents, siblings, extended family members, and care-givers with educational and emotional support so they can create an environment that promotes the development of their child.   This year the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center is proud to announce its new Deaf Youth Leadership Program. The program is an eight-week session accommodating up to thirty Deaf high school students throughout the Northwest. Students will work with Deaf professionals in the following areas: planning for college, career planning and employment services, management training, presentation skills, computer training, and community leadership.
Deaf Youth Internship   Outreach
The Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center is pleased to offer two internship positions for the Deaf: a data management internship and a non-profit management internship. The Deaf interns will gain the on-the-job training and experience that will better prepare them for future careers.   Deaf Services incorporates an involvement in community groups and contact with other organizations and service providers. This includes presentations to schools. These presentations include information about HSDC's programs and the issues we address, such as Deaf Awareness, Deaf Culture, TTY trainings, and American Sign Language (ASL) Classes.
