The Seattle Community Law Center (SCLC) is committed to advocating
to end poverty and the oppression and exclusion of communities of
limited
economic means. They believe advocacy to address their constituents'
short term problems must be accompanied by advocacy for long term
changes to prevent the perpetuation of these problems. To this end,
they pursue two complimentary activities. SCLC provides accessible
direct legal assistance and representation to people of limited means
with a focus on people who face barriers and are isolated. SCLC also
seeks to work collaboratively with its targeted communities to empower
their members to advocate for themselves and their neighborhoods,
and to pursue systemic policy changes to improve access to services
for underserved communities.
