Our Vision. All individuals will realize their full communication potential.

Our Mission. The Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center strengthens community by promoting effective communication.

Founded in 1937, HSDC has been serving the community for 72 years!

HSDC - The Communication Resource - serves Puget Sound residents who are Deaf, hard of hearing, or facing speech or learning challenges. And after 70 years, our impact extends much farther, not only in the lives of our clients and friends, but through the statewide and national recognition of our programs. With a holistic approach to communication issues, our professional services support the individual, family, workplace and community. We do this through client services, as well as initiatives to create systemic change.

With locations in Seattle, Tacoma and Bellingham, HSDC is here to support the achievement of personal, educational and vocational goals. Communication connects you to the community, and we open doors to successful communication - with technology, education, advocacy, therapy, and with partnerships. This combination of expertise and caring is what has made HSDC successful with thousands of people each year, and we continue our commitment to you - delivering quality services that are ethical, respectful, and community focused - through a knowledgeable, talented and passionate staff.

As a nonprofit agency, we thrive through partnerships with business,
government, and community groups. Along with individual donations, this makes it possible for us to provide service to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. Additionally, HSDC serves as a convening force with other nonprofit agencies, to strengthen coalitions and collaborate on shared goals in order to better serve our community.

If you would like to get more information, set up an appointment for a free hearing or speech screening, become a donor or volunteer, or simply learn more about communication issues, please contact the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center. Thank you for being a part of HSDC.
