Chief Operating Officer (COO)

OFFICE LOCATION: Seattle

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for the day to day operations of the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center. The COO plays a key in-house strategic, management, coordination and administrative role for HSDC. The COO supervises the Human Resources, Facilities, and IT departments, and works cooperatively with Development, Finance, Programs, and the CEO of HSDC.

REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

• Oversee and coordinate any and all agreements, contracts, documents, certifications and instruments necessary or convenient in connection with the management, maintenance and operation of the business or in connection with managing the affairs or programs of HSDC, for signature of CEO.

• Work with CFO in the preparation and monitoring of the annual budget for HSDC, including working with Managers to support their effective understanding and management of their department budgets.

• Oversee all contracts of liability, casualty or other insurance for the protection of the properties, employees, directors and officers, or affairs of HSDC.

• Oversee the filing, renewal and payment of all taxes, licenses or assessments of whatever kind or nature imposed upon or against HSDC or HSDC property, and for such purposes to make such returns and do all other such acts or things as may be deemed necessary and advisable by HSDC.

• Design and implement operational policies, procedures, and practices among employees that support and helps galvanize dynamic project goals and growth in a timely manner.

• Work closely with the CEO on all matters involving corporate management.

• Design and implement systems for personnel management to manage goals and challenges, oversee purchasing, computer services, and office management that support the organization's structure and strengthen the growing customer service and donor base.

• Develop procedures for program and outcome data collection for Development, Program staff, and sound business decision making.

• The COO will provide updates to the CEO of projects and initiatives on a regular basis, working with staff to adhere to timelines for completion.

• Develop asset management system and planning to realize the full potential and utilization of the agency’s assets and properties.

• Work closely with the CEO and senior managers to shape business strategies and oversee the implementation of the organization's innovational programs.

• Keep organizational goals and mission paramount, demonstrate commitment to the mission and a genuine desire to support that mission through the provision of first-rate administrative services.

• Lead with a focus on teamwork with a spirit of experimentation and creativity, which fosters innovation, welcomes scrutiny and constructive criticism, and learns from mistakes made along the way while maintaining a sense of humor!

PREFERRED/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

5-7 years experience in non-profit leadership roles. Bachelor’s Degree or higher; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, Power Point, Publisher and Excel. Excellent and proactive organization and communication skills, type 60+ WPM.

Applicant should be energetic, positive, motivated, good sense of humor, an organized self-starter, have exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills. In addition, applicants should be computer savvy and have strong writing and presentation skills.

Ability to work well with a variety and diverse group of people, including members of the Board of Directors, staff, clients, community members, donors, and various public and private constituencies. Individual should be self-directed, flexible, highly organized, able to prioritize, and exercise a high degree of independent judgment and confidentiality. The agency focus is communication and the applicant must be willing to learn American Sign Language (classes offered at the workplace). Clinical Audiologist

OFFICE LOCATION: Seattle

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is a full-time position for an audiologist working with a broad spectrum of clients of all ages in the Audiology Program at the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center, a non-profit agency, providing comprehensive rehabilitation service to communicatively impaired clients and their families.

REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

• Audiologist will perform routine and special evaluations of auditory functioning of children and adults (both unaided and aided, using current techniques)
• Will fit hearing aids to children and adults
• Utilize Real Ear and other diagnostic measures in determining appropriate amplification
• Will be responsible for equipment maintenance and calibration
• Provide assistive devices for use in job related and social situations
• Will be responsible for producing data in accordance with Center policy and ASHA, ABA and State regulations
• Utilize sign language or ASL interpreters when working with deaf clients
• Will participate in intra- and inter-department staff meetings and will perform other related duties assigned by the Coordinator.

PREFERRED/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of a Masters degree in audiology from an accredited college or university.
• Applicant must be ASHA or ABA and Washington State Certified.
• Minimum two years experience.
• Must be comfortable dispensing conventional, programmable and digital hearing aid technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain successful relationships with clients and professionals.
• Willingness to participate in an inter-disciplinary team approach in all the varied programs of the Center.
• Basic knowledge of American Sign Language or willingness to learn.

Speech Language Pathologist

OFFICE LOCATION: Seattle

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

We currently have a position available for a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in work with children who have hearing loss.

REPRESENTATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:

In this position, you will work collaboratively with other SLPs, Deaf Educators, Audiologists and an SLP Assistant to provide a comprehensive communication services for children and adults with hearing loss in both educational and clinical settings, including our bilingual (ASL/English) playgroup and our oral (cued speech) preschool.

PREFERRED/REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• CCC-SLP and eligibility for Washington State Licensure (strong CF considered)
• Experience working with preschool-age children
• Excellent professional written and verbal communication, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of Cued Speech or willing to learn (training & on-site mentoring provided)
• Knowledge of American Sign Language, level 2 or higher
• First Aid/CPR certification, or willing to obtain

The Center is a non-profit, professional rehabilitation facility devoted to helping persons who are deaf or have hearing, speech or language impairments. The Center is a United Way funded agency of King and Snohomish Counties, and is certified by Medicare and Medicaid.
