  Hearing Screenings

A hearing screening is a basic hearing test, which serves as a quick way to determine whether or not an individual would benefit from a complete hearing evaluation. The Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center offers free hearing screenings for people ages five and up, by appointment. A hearing screening is strictly pass/fail and does not give into on the degree or type of hearing loss. Additionally, it cannot be used as a determinite for recommending hearing aids.

HSDC can send qualified staff members to your business to conduct hearing screenings for your employees. Taking advantage of this service may not only improve communication between team members but between you and your customers as well.

Contact our Audiology staff for more information or to schedule a hearing screening.

  Hearing Evaluations

For those individuals who suspect they may be experiencing hearing loss, we offer comprehensive evaluation services to determine the extent of the loss as well as a variety of treatment and management options. A hearing evaluation can precisely define the nature of your hearing loss and establish a management program appropriate for you.

By having hearing loss properly diagnosed and managed, everyone involved benefits. The first step is to see an audiologist for a complete hearing evaluation. Hearing must be thoroughly evaluated in a sound-controlled room, with precisely calibrated equipment, to obtain an accurate diagnosis of your hearing loss. Check your insurance benefits, because you may need a physician’s referral to receive coverage for your evaluation.

After the evaluation is completed, the audiologist will review the results with you. At that time, recommendations will be made for managing your hearing loss. These recommendations will vary depending on your hearing loss and individual communication needs.
