Client Advocacy

HSDC provides personal advocacy for Deaf and hard of hearing individuals, to empower them to accomplish their goals and determine their accommodation needs.

Why Visit an Advocate?

Perhaps your hearing decreases and you worry about your job. We can educate you regarding technology available, interpreting options, and your legal rights - to guide you through the system so you can be independent.

Perhaps you have a dispute or communication breakdown with your landlord. We can assist in communication between both parties to help resolve any differences.

Perhaps you want to go to college. We can work with you to search for a school, understand financial aid options, and navigate the application and admission process.

Whether the topic is employment, education, or housing - health care, legal issues, or the ADA - we can provide peer counseling to assist you in understanding your rights. We can also locate funding for interpreters - and if you cannot come in for transportation reasons, we can even meet you in your area.
